Terms of Service
Last updated July 15, 2026
1. Agreement
These terms govern your use of Clayo - the app at clayo.com, the Clayo MCP server, the docs sites we host for you, and the embeddable support widget (together, “the service”). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.
2. The service
Clayo hosts help documentation that you author through your own AI coding tool via Clayo’s MCP server. We publish that content as a public docs site, provide search and AI-powered answers over it, and offer a widget you can embed on your own site. Clayo is currently free to use; AI features include a limited free allowance and then run on an API key you bring (see section 6).
3. Your account
You need a valid email address to sign in. Keep access to your email account and your Clayo API keys secure - API keys act on your behalf, and activity performed with them (including by AI tools you’ve connected) is yours. Tell us at support@clayo.com if you believe a key has been compromised.
4. Your content
You own the content you publish through Clayo. You grant us the license we need to operate the service: to store, process, and publicly serve your content, including generating search indexes and AI answers from it. That license ends when you delete the content or your project, except for short-lived backups.
You are responsible for what gets published to your docs site - including content written by AI tools acting on your instructions - and you must have the rights to everything you publish.
5. Acceptable use
Don’t use the service to:
- publish content that is unlawful, infringing, or deceptive;
- distribute malware or phishing pages;
- impersonate another person or organization;
- probe, disrupt, or place unreasonable load on the service or other customers’ docs sites.
6. Your API key
AI features (answers, search embeddings) include a limited free allowance served on Clayo’s own key. Beyond it, they run on an OpenAI API key you provide. Your relationship with OpenAI - including usage costs incurred by your projects - is between you and OpenAI. We use your key only to provide the service’s AI features for your projects, we store it encrypted, we never display it back after you save it, and you can replace or remove it at any time.
7. Your readers
Your docs site and widget serve your own users. You are responsible for your content and for your own legal obligations toward your readers. We process your readers’ questions and usage on your behalf as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Takedowns and suspension
We may remove content or suspend projects that violate these terms or the law. To report abuse or an infringement on a Clayo-hosted site, email support@clayo.com.
9. Availability and warranty
The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. We work to keep Clayo fast and available, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we’ll give you reasonable notice and a way to export your content.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clayo is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim.
11. Termination
You can stop using Clayo and delete your projects at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
12. Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. We’ll post the updated version here with a new date; continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
